CAN I TRAVEL ON MY OWN?

Yes! This is a popular choice and each year many students and professionals travel out to our programmes on their own. However, a massive benefit of travelling with us is that you’ll be sharing your accommodation with other healthcare interns and you’ll never be alone and can make friends quickly.

WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED ON THE PLACEMENT?

The majority of expenses are covered by us, but there are a few things you will need to arrange on your own. Things such as your flights, insurance, visas, vaccinations and any travel adventure you wish to take outside of your placement are up to you.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE OF TRAVELLING SHOULD I REGISTER?

The majority of participants register to secure their place on their chosen programme roughly a couple of months in advance. This guarantees your first choice of destination and also gives you plenty of time to save for your placement.

DO I HAVE TO PAY THE FULL BALANCE AS SOON AS I REGISTER?

No, you don’t! All we need to do is secure your spot and start planning your placement with the registration fee. You can then spread the total placement cost by breaking it into smaller payments and paying in installments. For more information on this, please contact us.

CAN I CANCEL MY PLACEMENT ONCE I’VE REGISTERED?

Once you have paid your registration fee you have a period where you would qualify for a refund if you changed your mind. For more information on this, please contact us.

DO I NEED TRAVEL INSURANCE?

Yes, everyone taking part in our placement programme will need to ensure they have a travel insurance policy in place to cover them for the duration of their trip.

WILL I NEED A VISA?

Your visa requirements will vary depending on the destination you have chosen and the type of passport you hold.

WHICH VACCINATIONS WILL I NEED?

The destination you have chosen and the vaccinations you have previously received will impact on the vaccinations you need. Or maybe that you don’t need any vaccinations at all! Our advice to you is to check with your local GP and have your medical file assessed.

WHAT HAPPENS ONCE WHEN THE REGISTRATION FEE IS PAID?

Once we confirm your eligibility, you have to submit your application form and pay your registration fee. We will then confirm your placement and availability within the next few days. You will receive a welcome call from a member of our team, confirming your dates and helping you to plan your internship.

CAN I CUSTOMIZE MY DEPARTMENT CHOICES?

Yes! Having the flexibility and freedom to choose the departments you’re most interested in is one of the key reasons to travel with us. You can have in-depth conversations with our team about your clinical interests and we’ll confirm and secure everything in advance of your trip.

WHAT IS THE DURATION OF THE INTERNSHIPS?

Our placements start from one week and there’s no maximum. You can also divide your internship between two hospitals or undertake add-on experiences like the Village Healthcare Experience, Ayurvedic Medicine Experience which will broaden your understanding of global health.

WHEN CAN I GO?

Our placements run all year round! It’s your choice!

CAN I GET UNIVERSITY CREDITS IF I COMPLETE A PLACEMENT?

Yes, you can. We work with hundreds of universities worldwide and we encourage their students to go abroad on a healthcare placement to gain credit. Speak to our team for further information.

DO I GET PAID?

No, our placements are only educational learning experiences.

HOW MANY SLOTS ARE AVAILABLE IN EACH LOCATION?

In all our destinations, there is only a limited number of places available. Booking as early as possible is advised.

WHAT HAPPENS IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG DURING MY INTERNSHIP?

In the unlikely event that something goes wrong while you’re overseas with us, we have a team of trained staff in all of our destinations. The team will be there to support you 24/7. Whatever the issue may be, the team will step in to resolve it.

WHAT LEVEL OF SUPPORT CAN I EXPECT ONCE I’M AT THE PLACEMENT?

We’ve been operating since 2013 and our in-country operation is what makes our service unparalleled. A huge part of the service we offer is the on-the-ground support from our in-country teams and they are there to provide all the support you need.

ARE ALL THE PLACEMENTS SUPERVISED?

Yes, the placements we offer are completely structured. So, when you’re on placement you’ll be supervised every day and you can expect 24/7 support from the in-country team and regular monitoring to ensure that you’re enjoying the whole experience.
